One-Hour Concurrent Session

AETC 2019 will feature over 150 one-hour concurrent sessions presented by educators and vendors, with special sessions by featured speakers and conference sponsors and aligned with the NETS for Students (See Strands).

Concurrent Session Types

Concurrent Session: A concurrent session is a formal, one-hour presentation in lecture or demonstration format given to a seated audience; it could include small-group activities

Smackdown Session: Love a fast moving session? Enjoy interacting with others? Know of a great gadget or program to share? Then these sessions are for you! Come and grab your two minutes of fame in a fast-moving "Smackdown" session. Participants will have about two minutes of floor time to share something "techie" that they find valuable in this exciting and ever-changing world of educational technology

Calling all Interested Presenters!

We're looking for great sessions, and here are some Hot Topics to consider as you think about your application to present.

Emerging Tech for Education

What new emerging technologies are you aware of and using? Virtual Reality? Gesture-based computing? Using Gaming Systems in Education? Tell us more!

Flipped Classroom

Moving the lecture out of the classroom to use that valuable time for more student-teacher interaction. How did you do it and what results are you getting? What suggestions would you make for others?

Mobile Learning

Bring Your Own Technology and tell us your story! What works? What management strategies do we need to pay attention to? What infrastructural changes are necessary?

Deadlines and Criteria
The deadline to submit an application to present a one-hour concurrent session has been extended to February 15, 2019. Applications must be made online. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Notification of application status will be mailed to the Main presenter. The conference program committee carefully reviews all submissions. Selection criteria are designed to ensure that the sessions will be of high quality, will be of interest to conference attendees (primarily Alabama K-12 teachers, administrators, and support staff), and will effectively use the entire block of time.

Registration for Presenters
AETC will provide one complimentary conference registration to the main presenter and one to the copresenter (if there is one) per session. The person listed on the Application to Present as the Main presenter will receive all mailings and it will be their responsibility to notify copresenter of session time/date. A session may be presented by any number of people; however, only the first two presenters will be identified on the AETC website and listed in the printed conference program.

Vendors
All vendor presenters must be registered exhibitors at AETC. These sessions are not "infomercials," but are intended to offer valuable information to attendees. All vendor presentations are labeled as such in the program. Approximately 15 percent of AETC workshops and concurrent sessions are presented by vendors representing technology-related products and services from either a "technical" or "instructional" perspective.
